Weston Labour, alongside other local groups, continue our joint fight to have the A&E Department of Weston General Hospital open 24 hours 7 days a week.
Please share our Change.org petition even if you have already done so, and let's build up the numbers making their voices heard for decent emergency healthcare in Weston-super-Mare
We met this week with our partners from Protect the NHS, and the Weston-super-Mare Trades Council. At our meeting it was decided that, between us, we would organise some events, and further protests. We sincerely hope that other local political parties, unions, and community organisations will joins us.
This is not just a Labour Party Fight, this is a fight that must be waged by the whole wider community who are put at risk by the overnight closure.
Saturday 2nd September, 10am-2-30pm.
High Street Save our A&E Campaign Street Stall at the Silica (Carrot), Weston-super-Mare BS23 1SL.

We also hope to organise an old fashioned bed push from the Town Centre to Hospital, and a Public Meeting with speakers. Dates will be announced once organised
An article this week in the Weston Mercury highlights what we feared, the ambulance coverage for the 10pm to 8am overnght closures is not adequate enough for our town. Paramedics say that “The ambulance service is a joke. They are not worried about you, the public, or their staff; they are just worried about target times.”
