Councillor Ian Parker (Weston South)
Councillor Ian Parker (South Ward)

Ian Parker has been a Councillor for the past 22 years. He is a lifelong Trade Union member and has held positions at Local, District and National level. In 2002 he was awarded his union’s gold medal for services to the Trade Union movement.
During his years as a Councillor Ian has fought and won many campaigns on behalf of the residents I represent. The most notable being against Vodafone who wanted to install a mobile phone mast on the roof of Hillsborough on Bournville. Ian was able to persuade council that the rays from the masts were harmful.
More recently Ian was instrumental in getting approval for a scheme to assist local residents who were in arrears with Council Tax and were in danger of bailiffs knocking their door. Hence a scheme known as First Steps was devised and bailiff activity has reduced considerably and Council Tax receipts have increased.
Ian holds two surgeries a week on Bournville and Oldmixon:
- Every Tuesday 9am-10am at The YOU Shop, Aller Parade;
- Every Thursday 9.30am-10.30am at The For All Healthy Living Centre, Lonsdale Avenue
